Live, local music is one of the best parts about living in our gritty city. With so many artists in Tacoma, every Mary Mart Musician Hour packs a punch of unique and varied talent.
Our latest show on May 23 brought in an incredible group of musicians. Some of the acts even came together for an incredible live improvised performance!
With the Art Walk going on, we also had a live visual art demonstration from Jennifer Moore. The evening was full of great vibes and even better music.
Here’s the Musician Hour recap for May:
Tha Wurm
Singer/songwriter and guitar player Jeramey Abarca, aka Tha Wurm, started the show off right and brought in a crowd! He delivered chill and groovy vibes. The crowd loved his ska style of music with rap/hip-hop elements.
Dennis Byers
Dennis captivated the audience with his deep, full voice! Singer/songwriter and guitar player, he provided an alternative rock style iconic to the PNW. His songs were dark, beautiful and attention-grabbing.
King Cavitt
Back on the Mary Mart Musician Hour stage we had King Cavitt! It’s been awhile since this crowd favorite has performed in the shop and we were excited to have him back! As a rapper/songwriter, his uplifting music was full of great samples and production. He brought chill energy perfect for a smoke sesh.
Adam Rahming
Also back on our stage after a while was a member of the Mary Mart family, Adam Rahming! He shared touching self-written songs inspired by his mother and grandmother. He delivered his mindful lyrics through his soulful voice and was definitely a crowd pleaser!
KP the Killer Percussionist
Koli, aka KP the Killer Percussionist, brought an infectious attitude along with his 3-bongo drum percussion! As marine veteran, he started drumming to help cope with his PTSD. His performance was raw, beautiful, and truly creative! Adding in vocal percussion towards the end as well, he made quite an impact on the audience!
Sam Bogle
Yet another favorite on the Mary Mart Musician Hour stage, Sam Bogle came back for another performance! His indie rock style came through in both his original songs and his Frank Ocean mashup. This singer/songwriter with a beautiful voice came back with a friend (Kendan Worley) who played the trumpet for the end of his set. The jazz style trumpet was a rare treat on our stage and loved by all!
Richard Grace & Kendan Worley
Richard Grace, aka The Sleep Stealers, graced our stage once again! But this time his electric guitar styling was joined by Kendan and his trumpet and melodica! Their instrumental performance flowed freely. KP the Killer Percussionist joined in as well, bringing a full sound and mesmerizing atmosphere. Richard’s wife even joined in for impromptu vocals! It was a truly magical experience and a great way to end the show by bringing many of the evening’s musicians together.
We’d like to give a huge shout-out to our friend Dejay for capturing all the great pictures featured in this blog post! Hit his line if you need any photography services! Thank you so much for capturing these magical moments, Dejay!
