It’s that time of year again! Summer is winding down and fall is knocking at the door, which can only mean one thing. Mary Mart’s birthday is just around the corner!
We’re celebrating five years of being your favorite dispensary and we want you to celebrate with us! But before we celebrate Mary Mart’s birthday, let’s take a look back to where we started, where we are, and where we’re going.
How We Started
Beginning in a small storefront on 6th Ave across from our current location, Mary Mart has grown to become one of the most recognized and award winning shops in the state.
Our first shop was quaint and exclusively family-run for the first few months. We grew our staff from there but kept our homey feel, providing, as our newest budtender Courtnee stated, a “more comfortable way of buying weed.”
Since moving across the street, we’ve been able to accommodate more products, curate events, and increase our community involvement.
Marketing marquis Mish noted, “We are a very close knit family amongst ourselves and have cultivated that kind of relationship with our community.”
Thanks to our wonderful and loyal customers, Mary Mart continues to be the longest-standing cannabis shop in all of Tacoma opening its doors in September of 2014.
What We’ve Accomplished
Of all our accomplishments as a shop so far, one of the most fulfilling has been collaborating with the community through sponsoring events like Art on the Ave, the Tacoma Night Market, and PCAF events.
We’ve even organized a summer-monthly community street clean-up event — 6th Ave Clean-Up.
To add to that, another important accomplishment has been creating accessible cannabis education through blogs, education hours, and social media infographics.
At Mary Mart, we care about the community that has allowed us to thrive. That’s why we’ve also created a platform for local artists to showcase their art, whether that be through the Art Walk and Musician Hour.
Some of these artists are even our own staff, like budtender Adam! He noted, “Mary Mart’s Musician Hour has allowed me the opportunity to share my art with the public.”
Where We’re Going
Moving forward, we’d like to create more engaging educational events for the community and reach a further audience. Hosting our education hours at wellness centers (like yoga studios, community centers, etc.) is one way we’d like to do this.
When asked where he sees the shop in the next five years, Mish stated, “I see Mary Mart with multiple chains all over the country if we can continue to be consistent with customer service and continue to dial in processes.”
Both Courtnee and Adam agreed they see Mary Mart expanding to other locations in the future.
